Eternal Claim 845

Chapter 845 Lead the Way Hayley’s POV: Chapters first released on fιɴdnοvel.netCeline shot me a nasty look. Then, just as quickly, her fake smile popped back on. She grinned at me. “Hayley, if it weren’t for you, my dad might not be safe today. “People say cutting the birthday cake brings good luck. Why don’t you do the honors?” I scoffed and refused. “I won’t steal your luck. No need to be so formal, Ms. Walton.” But Celine stepped closer, grabbed my hand, and shoved the knife into it. “Come on, you’re our hero. You should be the one to cut the cake. “Don’t say no. If you do, it just proves you’re still mad about what I said before. If you don’t forgive me, I’ll be crushed.” She put on the most innocent face, and everyone fell for it. Guests started jumping in. “Ms. Walton said it herself. Ms. Carson, don’t be shy.” “Yeah, Ms. Carson. You’re amazing for saving Mr. Walton.” More people piled on the compliments, all trying to convince me. With everyone watching, refusing would kill the mood and probably piss people off. Seeing all those eyes on me, I had no choice but to nod and take the knife from Celine. She looked smug. I could tell her second scheme was starting. Fine. I’d play along and see what she had planned this time. I took a breath, squared my shoulders, and walked toward the big cake. Just as I got to the cart, a sudden scream rang out beside me. Celine fell straight at me! The birthday cake was right there. With my reflexes, dodging her would’ve been easy, but I paused on purpose for just a second. “Accidentally” tripped by Celine, I lost my balance and crashed into the Snow White cake. Half noveldramamy body hit it, knocking it over, and frosting smeared all over my dress. Celine’s perfume filled my nose, and Hera growled in disgust. While I was busy calming her down, Celine’s fake–sweet voice snapped me out of it. “Ms. Carson, are you okay?” Other guests rushed over, all looking concerned. “Ms. Carson, are you hurt?!” “Here, Ms. Carson, let me help you clean up.” Celine quickly put on her best apologetic face. “It’s totally my fault. I didn’t see that I stepped on my dress. “Sorry, Ms. Carson. Luckily, I’ve got extra dresses upstairs. Come change with me.” Her apology sounded so real that everyone believed her–except me. Seeing how eager she was, I knew she was ready for the next part of her plan. I gave her a look full of disdain and said coolly, “Sure, lead the way.” She was acting slower than I liked. But honestly, I was curious to see what trick she’d try next. Celine’s POV: For some reason, Hayley’s smile gave me chills. Did she already figure out our plan? I tripped on my own dress just now and almost ripped it, so there was no way she could’ve noticed anything weird. I was probably just overthinking it. I forced myself to shake off the fear and doubt creeping up on me. Then, I started up the stairs with Hayley, walking slowly on purpose. Watching her back, I thought, if she slipped and broke a bone or two, that’d be perfect. I led her into the guest room I’d prepared, the one down the hall on the left. Once inside, I said, “Ms. Carson, you can change here. I’ll have someone bring a dress soon.” “Thanks, Ms. Walton.” I nodded, closed the door behind me, and hurried out. Standing outside, I finally let myself relax. It looked like Hayley wasn’t as clever as I thought. She was just a lowly Omega. There was no way she kept getting away from me. This time, everything was going exactly as planned. Staring at the door, I smirked and muttered, “Hayley, hope you enjoy the ‘surprise‘ I’ve prepared for you.”
